Why get the flu vaccine?

The Victorian Government recommends that everyone should vaccinate against the flu from mid-April onwards.  This is in order to protect yourself and others from the flu which typically peaks between June and September. The flu vaccine is the best step in minimising your risk of getting the flu. If you are vaccinated and still get the flu, you minimise the risk of developing severe symptoms and hospitalisation.

The flu is a highly infectious disease easily spread from one person to another, particularly during the cooler months of the year. Getting the vaccine doesn’t only protect you, it helps minimise the spread of influenza which will help protect the at-risk population.
